Looking for an apprenticeship?

Our network boasts more than 120 sites in Switzerland, offering you an ideal springboard for a successful career.

What’s next?

We are delighted that you are interested in an apprenticeship at BKW Building Solutions AG. Below, we outline the steps to follow to secure an apprenticeship contract with us.

Application process

If you’d like to obtain an apprenticeship contract with us, we’ll need you to complete a trial apprenticeship. We want you to know what work and challenges to expect. Just tell us which of our 22 apprenticeships you’d like to try out – and with more than 100 sites across Switzerland, you won’t have far to travel.

Now it’s time to put your application dossier together. You’ll need a CV with all your contact details, references and taster trainings you’ve completed already, plus copies of your school reports from upper secondary school.

You can either submit your application with just a few clicks via the “Apply” button in the job ad, or by sending it as a PDF attached to an email to rolf.siebold@bkwgt.ch. We’ll get back to you within five to seven working days.

Normally, the following steps will occur once your application has been submitted:

  • Confirmation of receipt from our side – after approx. two to five working days (if you haven’t received a confirmation within a week, please call us to check).
  • Telephone/video interview – depending on the training place, there might be an interview with your contact.
  •  Trial apprenticeship – if you haven’t completed a Trial apprenticeship in advance, you’ll now be invited to do so.
  • Apprenticeship contract – if everything’s gone well, you’ll be accepted by us over the next few days. You will sign your contract with your parents at our offices.

Helpful tips for you

We’ve put together a few tips and tricks to ensure you can submit your application as efficiently as possible and win us over with the best possible impression.

Use a template for your CV, paying attention to the following criteria:

  • Completeness of your contact details (name, address, email address, phone, etc.).
  • Full, concise description of your previous background.
  • A list of all your additional qualifications (language and IT skills, hobbies, etc.).
  • Pay attention to consistency and clarity.

On no more than one A4 page, tell us which apprenticeship you’re applying for and why you’d like to train with us. Let us know that you’d like to complete a taster training with us first. This increases your chances of successfully completing the application process and reaching the apprenticeship contract.

Send us your CV, a cover letter, and all your reports from secondary school. Ideally, you should put your application documents together in one single document before uploading them. This zip folder should include all the rest of your documents as PDFs (one each for your CV, reports, etc.).

Congratulations! Your documentation did its job and you’ve been invited to an in-person interview. Bear the following in mind:

  • Take a careful look at the directions and the map, and ensure you allow a time buffer so you’re not in a rush and don’t arrive late
  • Select appropriate clothing that you feel comfortable in. Maintain eye contact with your interviewers and smile from time to time. This creates a pleasant atmosphere
  • If you’re missing any reference letters or certificates, bring them with you. Bring a pen, too
  • We’re primarily interested in what interests you about the position and our company. Why did you decide to apply to BKW? What skills set you apart? What experience can you bring to the table? What makes you a suitable candidate?
  • Highlight your previous successes, whether at school (e.g. in a subject or project), sport or a taster training
  • Show interest by thinking about some questions in advance
  • And last but not least, be authentic, be confident and, ultimately, be yourself! We look forward to meeting you in person!
