Our benefits

We believe strongly in a balance between work and family commitments. We provide childcare for working parents in the form of reserved kindergarten places and help cover third-party childcare costs with up to CHF 250 a month. We also give you a family allowance of up to CHF 150 each month, in addition to the statutory child allowances.

  • Annual opportunity to purchase BKW AG share capital on preferential terms
  • Free half-fare travelcard or equivalent reduction on general season tickets
  • Staff restaurant with preferential prices
  • Discounts with third-party companies (mountain railways, insurance companies, specialist retailers)
  • Various sports offers such as group sessions, yoga and gym discounts

We believe in equal payment for equal work. We pursue a transparent wage policy that is in line with the market. Your individual salary is determined by your role, your skills and your relevant experience – not your gender. The salary consists of a fixed basic salary which you receive in twelve monthly instalments, plus a profit-sharing bonus, depending on whether you meet your targets.

The health and safety of our employees is important to us. This is why we offer a broad range of preventative measures and services to help you recover, and to maintain and support a healthy way of life. If you are unable to work for a longer period of time due to illness or accident, we will be there for you: we will continue to pay your full salary for six months. We will pay this at 90% for the ensuing six months, and at 80% for the 12 months after that. Our employees have semi-private insurance for hospital stays.

We operate our own pension fund. The pension plan is a defined contribution plan, and we pay around 60% of overall contributions. The coverage ratio is almost 112% (as at 2020) which means our employees have no deductions for administrative costs and very low risk contributions. In turn, this offers substantially better interest than required by law. Insured individuals can choose from three different savings plan variants with high purchase potential.
