Grid electrician VET (energy)

As a grid electrician, you will build and maintain energy, telecommunications and catenary systems. In the field of energy, you will help ensure that public transport and customers from industry, commerce, retail and private households have a safe, reliable and environmentally friendly supply of electrical energy.

How a grid electrician apprenticeship works

Every year, the BKW Group offers several apprenticeships for federally certified (VET) grid electricians. During your apprenticeship, you will work on numerous interesting projects and help us electrify the world. Here’s what your apprenticeship might look like day to day:

You’ve done it!

You have successfully completed your apprenticeship. But what happens next?
As a grid electrician with a VET diploma, you have chosen trailblazing basic training which you can build on to further your development.
At BKW, we offer a wide range of options.

  • In most cases, you can continue working for the BKW Group if that’s what you want.
  • You can sit for a Federal Vocational Baccalaureate or take on further training as a grid or maintenance specialist and reduce your workload to part-time.
  • Perhaps you have your eye on a higher position for which you need a degree (technical/vocational college or university of applied sciences)? We’ll help you work out how to get there.
