Sanitation technician OT

As a sanitation technician, you will help to supply new or converted buildings with hot and cold water. Under the supervision of sanitation technicians, you will assemble drinking water and wastewater pipes. You will install and maintain all types of sanitary facilities such as washbasins, bathtubs, showers and toilets.

How a sanitation technician apprenticeship works

Every year, the BKW Group offers apprenticeships for federally certified (OT) sanitation technicians in French-speaking Switzerland. During your apprenticeship, you will work on numerous interesting projects and help us build buildings. Here’s what your apprenticeship might look like day to day:

Locations: on construction sites or in existing buildings

Training days: 1 day a week

External courses: 2 weeks per apprenticeship year

You have successfully completed your apprenticeship. But what happens next?
As a sanitation technician with a VET diploma, you have chosen trailblazing basic training which you can build on to further your development.

At BKW, we offer a wide range of options.

  • In most cases, you can continue working for the BKW Group if that’s what you want.
  • You can take on shorter secondary training as a sanitation installer or take another further training course and reduce your workload to part-time.
  • Perhaps you have your eye on a higher position for which you need a degree (technical/vocational college or university of applied sciences)? We’ll help you work out how to get there.
